Principal: Amanda Benjamin BA Hons Drama (QTS), LRAD, RTS, ARAD, AISTD
Amanda began dancing when she was six years old and has not stopped since.
She trained to be a dance teacher at The Royal Academy of Dance – in London and has worked in Germany and England in a variety of settings. After sixteen years as a professional dance teacher, she retrained as a Primary Teacher with a specialism in Early Years education, Dance and Drama. She taught in Reception and Year 1 in a busy Islington Primary School and then moved to Copthall Girls School in Barnet to teach Dance and Drama full time at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level.
During her time there, she worked with many professional companies including Akram Khan, Matthew Bourne – Adventures in Motion Pictures, The Richard Alston Dance Company, The Rambert Company , The Royal Ballet Company, English National Ballet Company, Siobhan Davies, Lea Anderson – The Cholmondleys and the Featherstonehaughs, The Ballet Boys and Wayne McGregor/Random Dance. These collaborations led to performances at the Lillian Bayliss Studio at Sadlers Wells, The Linbury Studio at the Royal Opera House and the Artsdepot, Barnet.
Amanda also trained as a British Gymnastics qualified club coach and judge. From 2010 to 2015 she worked with Lara Everall at North East London Gymnastics Club both as a coach and as a dance teacher running Dance at the Cube. Amanda has been teaching Dance full time as Albion Dance School since 2016.
Amanda has been a mentor for professional teaching students from De Montfort Univerity, The Royal Academy of Dance and The Institute of Education.
Amanda holds an enhanced DBS certificate.
